Minty Milk

Minty Milk SERVES 1 , 1 cup

I found this recipe in the January, 2010 issue of Parents magazine. I'm posting so I don't lose it- sounds like a great after Christmas use for those candy canes. Caffeine-free latte for your little ones!

Ingredients for Minty Milk:

  • 1 cup low-fat milk
  • peppermint extract
  • 2 candy canes

Preparation of Minty Milk:

  1. Warm a cup of low-fat milk on medium for 5-10 minutes. Mix in a few drops of peppermint extract.
  2. Break a candy cane into a couple of small pieces and chop it on your cutting board with a sharp knife.
  3. Whisk milk in the blender for 2 minutes or use a frother. Pour into cups and top with crushed peppermint. Let kids stir it with a small candy cane. One dairy serving licked for the day!

Recently I found a bunch of "recipes" for using up those lemons that always seem to live in my veggie drawer until they are wrinkled and brown! Now lemons here are usually about $0.33 each or you can buy a 5 lb bag for about $2. Since I hate spending that much on one little lemon I usually buy the bag. I always ask myself tho what kind of savings it is when I do not use them? So I wanted to save this money saving info here where I would be sure to use it! Hope it works well for you too
